Today we woke up at 11:30, had breakfast, and then went off to the foot of the Andes mountains to have lunch! Since it´s Sunday, we ate asado, which is like barbeque. We went to a campsite where many, many families were cooking asado and having a picnic on concrete tables that are placed all over the area. There are also permanent ¨stoves¨where you can cook the asado. In the first photo is me with the asado and the second is of my host family and I during lunch. Then we packed up and went directly to a tea house in the country for merienda. It was called ¨El Retiro¨and it was beautiful. I took lots of pictures of the mountains and the different plants. We returned around 6:00 and now we´re just relaxing! I´m likin´this lifestyle of mostly rest with a little work and lots of food! I´ve never been hungry but always been ready to eat. The food here is very Italian. There´s lots of pastas and pizzas and bread. We have bread with every meal and I´m learning all of the different names for it. The food is not like the Spanish food that most Americans think of. It´s not spicy at all but still has lots of flavor. And the meat is better than in the US.Tomorrow I go to ¨el centro¨with my AFS friends to do some shopping because we have no community service tomorrow. Happy Fourth of July to all!
